Mexico City - Cancun -Antigua - Lake Atitlan -El Salvador-Santa Ana – Joya de Ceren-Copan, Honduras-Guatemala City -Granada León - Playa de Penitas - Managua
Day 1: Welcome in Mexico City Transfer & Historic Center, Half Day.
You will be amazed by the size of the city from the moment you arrive. Meet and greet with our local English-speaking guide and transfer to your hotel. Check-in available from 3 pm. Then, free time to start exploring the city. As the country´s capital, the "Distrito Federal" is a mosaic of contrasts but most of all an experience in which all of Mexico comes together. It’s the perfect place to start your trip in Mexico. Get to know one of the world´s biggest and most exciting cities! Enjoy a guided visit in the historical center, listed by UNESCO as World Heritage. This interesting tour will include “The Zocalo”, the heart of the city, where you will visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, one of the oldest and largest of the Americas, and (if open and subject to governmental agenda) the National Palace, home of the famous murals of Diego Rivera. You will also see the ruins of the Templo Mayor, from outside, one of the most important temples of the Aztecs in their ancient capital city of Tenochtitlan. Accommodation for 3 nights. Day 2: Excursion to Teotihuacan & Guadalupe Shrine, 7 hour
Today, we will drive north to Teotihuacán, ‘the place where gods were created’. Teotihuacan is one of the most impressive archaeological sites of the country. The history of Teotihuacan is quite mysterious. The earliest buildings were constructed around 200 BC. It is assumed that the city may have counted 200,000 inhabitants during its period of prosperity. In those years, Teotihuacán was the biggest city of the American continent and one of the biggest of the world. Until its inhabitants abandoned the city around the 8th century, Teotihuacan was probably the most significant and civilized cultural center of ancient Mexico. During this guided excursion you will encounter the magic and mystery of Teotihuacan. Admire (and climb?) the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. Walk down the Avenue of the Dead, visit the Temple of Quetzalcoatl with its unique stone sculptures of plumed serpents, the Temple of the Butterflies, and the Fortresses. Return to the hotel and overnight. Included: Breakfast.
Day 3: Mexico City - Cancun
Morning, transfer to the airport for a flight to Cancun. Upon arrival, meet and greet by our local English-speaking guide and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Accommodation in Cancun not included. Hotel book by clients. Included: Breakfast.
Day 4: Full Day Chichen Itza with Cenote
At the end of the Early Classic Period, around the year 600 AD, Chichen Itza was one of the largest and most prominent Maya cities. Nowadays, Chichen Itza is undoubtedly the best-preserved Maya site in the region. It is not only recognized as UNESCO World Heritage, it was also recently declared one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It´s definitely one of the most iconic places in the country, a site that can´t be missed on a trip to Mexico. Most famous landmarks are the Temple of Kukulkan (“El Castillo”), the Ballgame Court, the Platform of the Skulls, the Temple of the Jaguar, the Observatory, the One Thousand Columns, and the Sacred Cenote. Lunch at local restaurant. Afterwards, visit one of the innumerable cenotes and time for a refreshing swim. Continue to visit Valladolid, then drive back to Cancun. Overnight. Included: Breakfast and Lunch.
Day 5: Mayan Jungle Tour, Half Day
Breakfast and check out hotel. You may leave your luggage at concierge. Enter into the amazing Sac- Actun system, the world’s longest underground river, explored and recommended by the National Geographic Snorkeler specialized cave divers. Snorkel in the Nohoch Nah Chichi cavern, surrounded by awesome rock formations and millenary stalactites and stalagmites. Ride through the exuberant rainforest on our all-terrain Mercedes Benz Unimogs. Live a great experience rappelling into a beautiful cenote and swim in Yaxmuul, a unique natural pool. Enjoy nature and fly over the jungle’s foliage on exciting ziplines. Discover a cenote where you will participate in a traditional Maya purification ceremony. All the locations are exclusive for our small groups. Our specialized tour guides are fully bilingual and will provide explanations before all activities. After the tour, you will be return to your hotel at approximately 3:00 pm. Then transfer from hotel to Cancun airport on time to check in departure flight bound to Guatemala City. Please consider that international airlines request to be 3 hours prior departure flight schedule. Included: Breakfast and light lunch. None meals.
Day 6: Antigua walking tour - Lake Atitlan tour
After breakfast, cultural tour in Antigua Guatemala, an effortless walking experience visiting: El Convento Capuchinas, Central Park, chocolate museum, local market and Museum of Universidad San Carlos. In the afternoon you will have a transfer to Lake Atitlan area (approx. 3 hrs.) At night when you have arrived, you will visit Jose Pingüinos Restaurant for a lovely dinner accompanied by the amazing music of the female group Voz Ali, which is a group of indigenous people who play cumbia music dressed in their local costumes. Day 7: San Juan & Santiago Atitlan – El Salvador
After breakfast you will take a scenic boat ride across Lake Atitlan (30min) to the village of San Juan La Laguna where you can visit the women’s textile cooperative to see hand weaving and the natural dye process. Visit the studios / homes of the celebrated naïf painters, and the then continue to the village of Santiago. At noon the tour will finish, then you will be transferred to El Salvador (approx. 6 hrs.)
Day 8: Santa Ana – Joya de Ceren
In the morning you will have a transfer to visit volcanic lagoon Coatepeque whose name means “hill of snakes” and considered one of the most beautiful lakes; finalize visiting the fascinating Mayan Civilization of ElSalvador. Visit the “Pompeii of America”: the archaeological site known as “Joya de Ceren”, declared by UNESCO a World Heritage in 1933, due to its valuable contribution to daily life of the ancestors of El Salvador.Also visit, Tazumal Archaeological Site. Tour finishes around 3 pm.
Day 9: El Salvador – Copan, Honduras
Today you will have a transfer to Copan, Honduras. This will be about 5 hours. The rest of the day is free for your own leisure.
Day 10: Copan, Honduras – Guatemala City
Enjoy a tour through the ceremonial center, the ball court, the hieroglyphic stairway and the acropolis where you will be astonished by the revelation of one of Copan’s best kept secret: the discovery of the Rosalila Temple which was hidden for centuries. After lunch, transfer to Guatemala City (approx. 6 – 7 hrs.)
Day 11: Tikal National Park – Cayo – Mopan River night tour
05:15 hrs. Shuttle to the airport 06:30 hrs. Local flight to Flores, Peten 07:40 hrs. Meet and greet at the airport, then continue to Tikal National Park. At Tikal enjoy a guided tour through the paths and main areas of the most important city of the Mayan World. Here you will find that nature and archaeology are wonderfully blended. You will be able to see abundant wildlife, the Mayan forest, millennial temples silent witnesses of the birth and splendor as well as of the collapse of one of the most important civilizations in the planet, all this is in our visit to Tikal, The City of the Voices. After lunch, transfer to the border with Belize and continue to your hotel in Santo Ignacio. At night, enjoy a tubing tour at Mopan River. After tour, transfer back to Cayo area.
Day 12: Santo Ignacio
After breakfast, float down a pristine river in the heart of the jungle with a full-day tubing and caving trip from San Ignacio. Strap on a helmet equipped with a waterproof headlamp, and hike into a cave entrance surrounded by lush foliage. Follow a gentle stream through a series of cavern passages, learn about the rich Maya history of the region, then enjoy a cool swim in the clear water. Visit a final cave to see a thriving bat colony and fantastic rock formations before returning to San Ignacio.
Day 13: Belize City – San Pedro Ambergris
07:00 hrs. Early transfer Belize City (approx. 2 hrs.) Upon arrival discover the interesting history and experience the culture of Belize City, a bustling, colorful town that features Victorian architecture from the British colonial era. You will have time for sightseeing, exploring and shopping. A stop at The Museum of Belize will demonstrate the promotion, documentation, exhibition and understanding of Belize’s cultural heritage and history. The tour ends at the Traveler’s Rum Factory, a rare tour takes you inside the factory that makes the famous “One Barrel” rum that every Belizean and most of our visitors simply love to taste. Lunch in Belize City, then transfer to water taxi station for transfer to San Pedro Ambergris. Upon arrival, walk to your hotel which is about 3 minutes walking distance from the water taxi.
Day 14: San Pedro –Managua (unguided)
Walk to the water taxi station for transfer to Belize City, upon arrival our team will pick you up for transfer to Belize City International Airport on time to catch your flight to Managua, Nicaragua. Upon arrival you will be picked up by a driver and transferred to Grenada. There you will enjoy a city tour in this beautiful historical city. The tour includes a cisit to the museum conventent San Francisco, Museum Casa de los Tres Mundos.
Day 15: Pueblos blancos / Catarina / volcán Masaya / isletas de Granada
We leave for the towns of Catarina and San Juan de Oriente: They are picturesque towns where we can admire and buy all the handicrafts in clay, fabrics and leather, which are made in all regions of Nicaragua. You will visit the Masaya Volcano National Park a few minutes from the entrance to the reserve by vehicle we will be in the crater of the active volcano launching lava and sulfur. Afterwards we will return to the city of Granada where we will enjoy a good lunch on the shores of Lake Cocibolca and enjoy a scenic beauty. Afterwards we will take a boat trip to the islands of Granada to see a few of the 365 islands who have a volcanic origin.
Day 16: Granada – Leon
After breakfast we will depart at 8 AM to the Momback volcano reserve where we ascend in a special vehicle 1400 meters, finding a coffee farm where we will taste a rich coffee grown in the area. Continuing the way to the biological station of the reserve and then we will take a guided walk of two hours along the paths of the Natural Reserve surrounded by a nebliselva where we will observe the richness in its diversity of flora and fauna. As well as different fumaroles of volcanic origin. You will enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. Afterwards you will be transferred to the colonial city of Leon.
Day 17: León / Playa de Penitas / Managua
After breakfast you will go on a city tour in the historic center of Leon. You will visit the Ruben Daria Museum, where we find his belongings and part of his literary work. Afterwards we will visit museum and contemporary Ortiz Guardian. Then you will enjoy a nice local lunch. Afterwards you will have the opportunity to have a walk at the beach of Poneloya. Later you will be transferred to the capital city of Managua.
Day 18: Home again
Today you will be transferred to the airport at the right time for your flight back home!
