Mirante do Gavião Amazon Lodge
Francisco de Orellana, a Spanish conquistador, discovered this great river for Europeans in the 16th century and gave the river the name when he was attacked by native women warriors who reminded him of the Amazon warriors, a tribe of women warriors. The word “Amazon” or "amaná" means "rain" from the language of the Tupi-Guarani tribe. A majestic tropical rain forest like a giant cloak
covers the Amazon lowland.
Mirante do Gaviao is a lodge in the Brazilian Amazon located on the banks of the Rio Negro—a mirror-like Amazon tributary that traces through the rainforest of western Brazil. The Anavilhanas National Park, the greatest river archipelago on the planet–with more than 400 unexplored islands–is accessible to guests at Mirante do Gaviao. Guests at Mirante do Gaviao Amazon Lodge can enjoy the hotel’s swimming pool, pier, lounge and restaurant, spa, and overlooks.
