Sport Fishing

  • Dorado: A species whose catch  is year-round, but if you want to have a chance at the biggest dorado, come and fish in Costa Rica from November to April.
·         Marlin is the most common of its billfish here while cruising the waters of Costa Rica throughout the year. The Blue marlin is the easiest to find in November, December, March and April, while the black marlin fishing is in July and August. Marlin’s strength and beauty are incomparable, growing up to 14 feet and weighing nearly 2000 pounds.
·         Rooster fish is  one of the most wanted fish to catch worldwide. They average 20-50 pounds. And it can run as big as 100 pounds or more. They are trapped in Costa Rica throughout the year, and never disappoint the fishermen with their power and unique beauty.
·         The Sailfish are here all year, with the maximum time from January to July. In Costa Rica, it is not uncommon to raise 10 to 20 sailfish from the boat on any given day, a good day to see 30+. As for the rest of the year, it is very common to grow 3-8 per day. Although not as large or powerful as marlin, sailfish offers a more consistent and easier to find a bite.
  • Snapper: There are dozens of different species of snapper 3 pounds up to 50 pounds. Snapper Cubera is the most common with dog snapper, snapper, spotted pink snapper, and much more. Snappers are near the piles of stones in about 150 feet of water, and the range of 20-75 pounds.
·         Yellowfin tuna is the main species of tuna and is certainly the largest in Costa Rica. These 100 to 300-pound fish test your back, legs, the whole. The world record for tuna was over 400 pounds, but it was generally found that most of the tuna are smaller and travel in large schools.
·         Wahoo is rare in these waters but catches a few. They usually connect at 2-4 per year which is in the range of 50-100 pounds.
