Day 1. Bogotá
Welcome and assistance at El Dorado International Airport. Transfer to the Hotel and checkin.
Day 2. Bogotá – City Tour
Panoramic tour through the historic center of Bogota, also called "La Candelaria”. The Gold Museum will be visited. There are exhibited about 34,000 pre-Hispanic gold pieces and more than 25,000 pre-Colombian objects. Later, we will visit the Casa de la Moneda and the Botero Donation, where are exhibited artworks of Fernando Botero, an internationally recognized Colombian artist in painting, drawing, and sculpture. The tour will end with a panoramic tour by the Marco de la Plaza de Bolívar: The Cathedral, The House of Nariño (Presidency of Colombia), The Lievano Palace (Bogota´s Mayor hall) and The Palace of Justice. Ascent to Monserrate. To finish our journey with a sweet flavor of the city, we will taste a delicious and typical Ice of Paila (helado de Paila). Return to the hotel. Day 3. Bogotá – Villa de Leyva
Breakfast at the hotel. The journey will begin in Bogotá making our way to Zipaquirá, where one of Colombia's main tourist sites is located, the majestic Salt Cathedral built 180 meters deep from a salt mine. Lunchtime (not included). Departure to Villa de Leyva, passing by the Boyacá Bridge (Puente de Boyacá), where the most important battle to declare the independence of Colombia took place. In that time, this episode also inspired the independence battles of Venezuela and Ecuador. Arrival to Villa de Leyva. This is a representative town in Colombia due to the history, architecture and bohemian atmosphere it represents. It is located 177 km away from Bogotá, despite its role in the past political history of the country, it is so well preserved that seems to be frozen in time. Overnight at the hotel. Day 4. Villa de Leyva
Breakfast at the hotel. Tour of the museums around Villa de Leyva, visit to the Terracota House, Infiernito. Lunch (Not included). Visit Raquira. Return to Bogotá - El Dorado International Airport where the flight to the city of Armenia will be taken (Not included. It is suggested to take Flight leaving Bogotá at night after 19:00 Hrs). Welcoming and assistance at the Armenia International Airport. Transfer to the Hotel and check in. Duration: 10 hours, Includes: Entrance to the places described. Guide service, private transportation and local medical assistance card.
Day 5. Coffee Farm. Coffee Cultural Landscape
Breakfast at the hotel. Tour to the Cocora Valley. Enter to the Cocora Natural Reserve. Walking through the Valley until reaching the Palm Forest where it is possible to observe the biodiversity of the region. Observation of the iconic Palm, one of the world's highest wax palms and the Colombian national tree. Lunch (not included). Transfer to the town of Salento to take a walking tour visiting its colonial streets, and boarding of typical Jeep Willys to go to the El Ocaso coffee farm, where we will participate in the interactive coffee process. Day 6. Coffee Farm. Coffee Cultural Landscape
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, transfer to El Eden International Airport, to take the flight (Not included) to the city of Santa Marta (It is suggested to take a flight leaving the City of Armenia in the morning hours before 09:00 am.). Arrival in Santa Marta, welcoming and assistance at the Simón Bolívar International Airport. Transfer to the hotel and check-in. Lunch (not included). In the afternoon, city tour, passing through the main avenues and visiting Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, an old sugar mill where the Simon Bolivar spent his last days. Here, three different collections can be appreciated: the historical collection, the modern collection and the botanical garden. Visit to Minor Basilica Cathedral and Gold Museum or Customs House, where the liberator Simón Bolívar spent also several important days of his life. There, an extraordinary collection can be observed, which puts in context the cultural heritage of the city and country as well as a beautiful restored colonial house that invites to explore the past and present of Santa Marta. Day 7. Santa Marta
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the Tayrona Natural Park -about 45 minutes from Santa Marta-, a nature sanctuary with a variety of fascinating ecosystems, beaches, and indigenous cultures. After passing the sector of Canaveral, we will begin our walk through the dry humid tropical forest until we reach the sector of Reefs and thus reach Cabo San Juan to take a refreshing swim in the Caribbean sea. Lunch (not included). In the afternoon return to the hotel. Duration: 10 hours Includes: Entrance fee to the Tayrona Park, Guide service, private transportation and Local medical assistance card.
Day 8. Santa Marta– Cartagena
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer from Santa Marta to Cartagena by land in private shuttle service (Spanish speaking driver) (Duration approx 4 Hours). Arrival at Cartagena, Check in at the hotel. City tour in a private transport unit equipped with air conditioning, journey through the residential neighborhoods of Bocagrande, Castillo grande and Manga. Arrival at the Top of the Popa, where you will have a complete view of the city, guided visit to the convent and the church. Later on, visit to San Felipe de Barajas Castle, the most important military engineering work of Spain in America which protected the city from pirate attacks. At the end of this visit, return by the Santander Avenue from where the bastions and walls of the historic center can be observed. Visit to the craft center Las Bóvedas. Duration: 04 hours. Day 9. Cartagena
Breakfast at the hotel. This will be the ideal day for fishing and cooking native cuisine and to get in direct contact with the native population of the Afro-Cartagena fishermen's village. We will learn from them to assemble fishing nets and gears for crabs, then help to cook crabs in fishermen's house. Duration: 07 hours, Includes: guide service, private transportation, Typical Lunch (whatever you catch, crabs, fish or snails) everything is cooked in the house of the native fisherman, and Local medical assistance card.
Day 10. Cartagena
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Rafael Núñez International Airport. According to the scheduled, flight back to your city of origin.
